Free QR codes that don’t expire

A QRfox code keeps working after you print it — on the free plan, after a busy month, and after you cancel a paid plan. You can still change where it points whenever you want.

Why “free” QR codes stop working

If a code you printed suddenly leads to an error or a “please upgrade” page, it was almost always one of these.

The free trial ended

Many dynamic QR tools offer a free trial, not a free plan. When the trial runs out, the codes you already printed stop redirecting until you pay.

A scan cap was hit

Some plans switch a code off once it passes a monthly scan limit — usually right when a flyer or menu is working best.

The subscription was cancelled

Cancel a paid plan and the redirect service goes with it. Every sign, card and brochure with that code on it is now a dead end.

How QRfox keeps free codes working

Free is a plan, not a countdown. Here’s exactly what that means.

No expiration date

Free-plan codes have no end date. They keep redirecting until you choose to pause, schedule, or delete them.

Scan limits never break a code

The free plan includes 500 tracked scans a month. Go past that and your codes keep working — you just see a note in your dashboard.

Cancel without breaking anything

Downgrade or cancel a paid plan and your account drops to Free. Codes you’ve printed keep redirecting.

Still editable after printing

These are dynamic codes. Change the destination any time — the printed code stays the same.

Questions people ask

Do QR codes expire?

A QR code image itself never expires — it’s just a pattern. What can expire is the service behind a dynamic code, which redirects scanners to your link. QRfox doesn’t switch that off on the free plan.

What’s the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

A static code has your link baked into the pattern: it never expires, but you can’t change it or see scans. A dynamic code points to a short link you control, so you can edit the destination after printing and track scans.

Is there really no catch on the free plan?

The limits are the ones in the table: 5 codes total, 500 tracked scans a month, and a small QRfox mark on the code. No trial clock, no credit card.

When would a QRfox code stop working?

Only if you pause it, set an end date or scan cap on it yourself, delete it, or if the destination is flagged as unsafe.

No catch
